Sana Obruent is a dark ambient / ghost drone project that was formed by Paul Lopez who is based in California. The music of Sana Obruent is comprised of breathy drones drifting through shifting soundscapes. Delicate and weightless environments subtly evolve instilling an overwhelming sense of bliss. Nodding toward the sounds of Shoegaze and Dreampop the music of Sana Obruent strays from all clichés that would easily classify this work. Vast amorphous guitar textures unfold to reveal new sheets of overtones and noise.
The best description is to imagine that Paul is out in the hills somewhere concocting this stuff at the dead of night. His music is recorded live, at night and in total isolation – which is something you can hear. Most of the tracks come in at around the ten minute mark and consist of subtly evolving tones in which is firmly set to "relax". Like the best music of this genre it undulates and churns. Coming in and out of focus like a blurred photograph of something terribly bleak.
You may listen, you may even witness something slightly disturbing, but you are unable to move and wish that you never will...
